We may assume that the gravitational force on the ball is small in the outer space. Particularly, if there is no large mass in the vicinity so that the gravitational attraction exerted on the ball is small and thus, its weight is negligeable. Only in this sense we can say that the ball has "no weight". But the ball still has inertia as measured by its mass. To catch it means that the velocity of the ball has to be reduced to zero. The force that we have to apply to stop its motion depends on the velocity and the mass of the object not on its weight. This means that it would not be any easier to play "catch" in the outer space.
