Beating Procrastination

We all procrastinate at times. Here are some tricks that can help.

  • The Pomodoro Technique
Write down what you're working on, set a timer for 25 minutes, and when it goes off take a 5 minute break. Repeat.
The trick here is that you must take the break. With a bit of practice, you'll find that your 25-minute work sessions become very productive, leaving you with more time to do what's most important to you.
  • Stop Procrastinating by Speed-Dating Your Tasks
Do you have 4 urgent things to work on? When you're working on one, do you worry that the others aren't getting done? Set a timer and work on each one for 5 minutes at a time. When you've gone through all of them, take a short break and then start again. Your brain can relax knowing the others will get their turn soon.
